Amendments to the Rules of the GPW Indices Family from March 21, 2022

GPW Benchmark (Administrator) presents the consolidated text of the amended Rules of the GPW Indices Family, adopted by the Management Board on February 17, 2022. The amended Regulations include methodological changes developed after public consultation concluded by the Administrator on February 6. The changes are listed in the record on the first page of the Rules.

Amendments to the Regulations include:

  • introduction of the principle of qualifying companies to the WIG20 reserve list, assuming that a company that is below 40 in the capitalization ranking could not qualify for an index reserve list
  • determining the minimum number of instruments participating in the portfolios of all indices (3 instruments)
  • clarification of the provisions regarding the MTR indicator
  • modification of the provisions regarding the earlier notification of extraordinary changes in indexes (providing information about extraordinary changes, if possible, 2 days in advance)
  • postponing the qualification of debuting companies to the WIG, WIG-Poland and sector indices (from 3 to 7 sessions, taking into account maintaining the relevant criteria). In this case, the introduction to the index would actually take place after 9 sessions from the debut, taking into account the 2-day deadline for informing about extraordinary changes
  • changes in the publication frequency of the WIGtech, WIG20TR, mWIG40TR, sWIG80TR and WIG30TR indices
  • extraordinary adjustments of mWIG40 and sWIG80 consisting in changing the composition of indices during IPOs of companies with large capitalization that meet the conditions resulting ( i.e. fast track procedure) - considered by the Administrator to be a significant change in the Methods of the indicated Indices, and thus meeting the criteria of Art. 28 sec. 2 BMR.

The summary of the public consultations is available here.

The amended text of the Rules will apply from March 21, 2022, i.e. the date of annual review of GPW Indices’ portfolios. However, as part of the annual review due on March 18, 2022, the Administrator will apply the new rules when determining the new portfolios composition.
